Our Church History

 

 

The Fontana SDA Church was organized on September 29th, 1951. Pastor John Shewmake wanted to start a Church in Fontana. The SECC conference President, Elder Hicks, came out to help organize. They were assisted by founding members, Bill & Margarite Brock, Ralph & Geneva Christensen, Frances Hansen, Mrs. Cecile Louckes, Mrs. Morton, Carl & Nattie Linebaum (elder). The early Church met at the Lady’s Club on Bloomington Ave, Bill Brock’s home, First Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Jewish Synagogue and the Slovenian Hall. Land was purchased in Fontana was bought for $5400 and a gentleman Mr. Steiner, donated land as he left his estate to the Church. The Church was built in 1957 with 50 charter member,  and the pastor. Over the years there have been Evangelistic Crusades, Revelation Seminars, Vacation Bible School, heart checks, health surveys, cooking classes, weight control and stress management classes offered.
